HP Indigo digital printing technology

Change may not always come easy, but it is often the best way to fulfill customer needs and maintain steady growth. Hoover made the move to digital printing about eight years ago. We’ve never striven to be the biggest guy on the block, but a few years back we traded in our HP Indigo to the latest 3500 model. It’s always been about serving our customers. We realized we were missing out on addressing customers’ short- to medium-run needs. After evaluating different options, we chose the HP Indigo 3500 press for its short-run capabilities, exceptional quality and fast turnaround times. Also, since the HP Indigo press can output an instant proof on a variety of papers there’s less chance for a mistake or error in the final output; that’s why we excel in producing quality and precise jobs according to the requirements of our customers.

The digital technology is based on HP ElectroInk, which uses small color particles suspended in Imaging Oil that can be attracted or repelled by means of high voltage. The ink forms a very thin and smooth plastic layer on the paper surface. The fact that these particles are so small ensures that the printed image does not mask the underlying surface roughness/gloss of the paper, as can be possible with some toner-based processes, bringing Indigo printing closer in appearance to conventional offset lithography, whereby ink is actually absorbed into the paper.

Its ability to print without films and plates enables Hoover to create personalized short-runs, changing text, images and jobs without having to stop the press. Brand New Hoover Printing Sign

We would like to thank our friends over at Gerard Signs for fabricating our new sign. The old sign has been a landmark for 47 years and now hangs on the back of our building. Next time you pass by our building, take a picture of our new sign and email it to us and you might find your picture on our website! At the very least stop in and say hello. Letterpress Printing

Letterpress printing is relief printing of text and/or images. The inking was carried out by rollers which would pass over the face of the type and move out of the way onto a separate ink plate where they would pick up a fresh film of ink for the following sheet. Meanwhile, a sheet of paper was slid against a hinged platen which was then rapidly pressed onto the type and swung back again to have the sheet removed and the next sheet inserted.

This was the normal form of printing text from its invention by Johannes Gutenberg in the mid-15th century until the 19th century and remained in wide use for books and other uses until the second half of the 20th century. It has been revived recently with customers desiring unique and elegant printing for special occasions: Wedding Invitations and accompanying wedding accoutrement, Baby Announcements, Grand Opening Announcements,etc.

At Hoover Printing we offer a wide variety of printing options. This 76 page plus cover yearbook was assembled with a combination of customer supplied files, images and in-house design. To be cost conscience, we used our Heidelberg Speedmaster offset press to produce superior high definition black and white print quality with maximum affordability! Our Full color Indigo digital press was used for all the color pages throughout the book. Yorba Hills Little League chose optional UV Gloss Coating for their book covers to create a durable and fade-resistant finished product.
